Memorial Day USA.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them. Lest We Forget.

Yes folks just like good old Aussie our American friends and allies also have a day of remembrance for the fallen. Here is a bit of back ground on Memorial Day. Here.

It has special significance to this writer also. At the close of WW2 many Australian Women left our shores for a better life in the US. Yep those GI's pinched our sheilas.

In doing so many families in Australia now share a common bond with the US. This writer had two Aunties leave for the US after marrying two US Service men at the end of WW2. Both resided happily in Memphis until the older of the two passed away 2 years ago. The surviving sister has now moved to Florida with her ex Navy husband. They will certainly be taking time out to remember the sacrifices so many have made.

So here's to the Crew of USS Oyster Bay.
