Australian New Nation. The Invasion - Boat Report 2010

Here's boat number 17 for 2010 -

Navy stops asylum (invader) boat

The Navy has intercepted another boat carrying asylum seekers
(invaders) off Christmas Island - the 17th to be picked up this year.

Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor said HMAS Wollongong stopped the vessel about 5pm yesterday 13 nautical miles southwest of Christmas Island.

There are said to be
57 people (invaders) on board the vessel.

The last boat stopped on Friday sailed to within a few kilometres of Christmas Island before being intercepted.

The Christmas Island detention camp (holiday resort) is now about 50 beds short of being over capacity. Current capacity on the island is for around 1900 people (invaders).

The tally up to yesterday was 17 boats carrying 863 invaders in the 59 days of 2010. Now that summer is over expect the influx to increase dramatically.
