Australian New Nation Boat Report 2010

Here's boat number 37 for 2010 -

Asylum seeker (invader) boat intercepted near Broome

AUTHORITIES have intercepted another boatload of suspected asylum seekers
just off Australia's northwest coast.
The boat - carrying some 99 passengers (invaders) and four crew - was intercepted southwest of Cape Leveque near Broome.

Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor said the boat was spotted by border protection's HMAS Larrakia this evening.

"The group will be transferred to Christmas Island where they will undergo security, identity and health checks,'' Mr O'Connor said in a statement.

"Their reasons for travel will also be established.''
(Um der the invasion of Australia and a free ride for life courtesy of the Australian taxpayer!)

The boat is the 37th to be stopped on its way to Australia this year.

So, as of today the 97th day of 2010 there have been 37 boats carrying 1,808 invaders and 94 smugglers that have illegally entered Australian waters.
